Social Relationship and Rural Livelihood Insecurity

Former AREU Director Dr. Paula Kantor presented results from a study of rural livelihood change to policymakers and programmers from a range of government ministries, international organisations and NGO at the Safi Landmark Hotel in Kabul. The workshop explained how the types and quality of relationships that rural households have both upwards to powerholders and among their peers affects their livelihood outcomes. This evidence was used to discuss the relevance of social analysis to improving programming and policymaking in the agriculture and rural development (ARD) sector.
