AREU currently engages in a research project on men and masculinities in Afghanistan: IMAGES Afghanistan. It is based on the International Men and Gender Equality Survey, pioneered by Promundo, and fielded in a dozen countries across the world with more than 25,000 men and women. AREU conducts qualitative research in studying men in multiple facets of their lives, and in understanding how they see the shifting landscape of gender equality. The findings on IMAGES aim to significantly shape national policies, donor strategies and civil society programming for better engaging men and boys in achieving women’s full economic, social and political empowerment and working to end violence against women.
