Masculinities Engaging Men and Boys for Gender Equality

Sayed Mahdi Mosawi is a Research Officer in the Gender Unit at Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit (AREU) and a Sociology PhD candidate at Hacettepe University of Turkey. Recently, he was invited to present his paper entitled ”Gender neither ours nor from our culture, west countries brought it to us: Challenges of Engaging Afghan Men in Gender Equality (A Case Study in Kabul, Afghanistan)" in an International Conference on Masculinities: Engaging Men and Boys for Gender Equality from  March 5-8, 2015, in New York City. In this conference, Mosawi’s work was awarded the 2015 Loren Frankel Memorial Scholarship from American Men’s Studies Association (AMSA) as one of the best presented papers and he has also received honorary membership to the association. In the following interviews prepared by Voice of America (VoA Dari Ashna) he talks about his work on the concept of masculinity in Afghanistan.
